The cultural village was built in 2020 to showcase and preserve the culture of the people of Rwanda while contributing to the socio-economic transformation of the local community. The village provides free milk and eggs to destitute single mothers from the community. The privately run establishment empowers the youth through education, skills development, and job creation. In the morning after breakfast at 08:00 AM you will visit The Ellen DeGeneres Campus was dedicated by talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to be the permanent home of the Dian Fossey Fund which was created to continue Dian Fossey's legacy of protecting mountain gorillas following her untimely death in 1985. According to Ellen DeGeneres, the gorilla sanctuary is a gift from her wife Portia de Rossi for her 60th birthday four years ago. Portia narrated how she was moved by Ellen's passion to emulate Fossey and her work which prompted her to give her this lifetime gift. After this Campus, you will proceed to the Gorilla Guardians Village. The Iby'iwacu cultural village is one of the leading cultural attractions in Rwanda. The Village combines all of Rwanda's known cultural traditions, people, and history into one place for display and a personal experience. International visitors get to see what life was in a typical African village setting - the lifestyle, houses, traditional dances, dressing code, food, herbs, and how the ancient kingdoms were generally organized. Tourists are given an opportunity to learn ancient hunting skills, try weaving baskets/mats, carpentry. After enjoying the Bigogwe farm experience, we will proceed to Lake Kivu in western Rwanda. Arrive in the afternoon, have lunch, and after which you will take a launch cruise on the lake. In the morning after breakfast, you will have a tea plantation activity where you will experience the way they plant tea and then ways of harvesting it. After the activity, you will have lunch and we will proceed our journey in Karongi. Accommodation in Karongi.
After your morning breakfast, you will transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way, experience a canopy walk which is an exhilarating experience done in Rwanda's Nyungwe National Park on a suspended bridge 70m high above the great Nyungwe forest. This walk is a guided walk on a 160 m long walkway that takes about 2 hours. The ancient Nyungwe forest is home to numerous wild species including endangered chimpanzees plus other 12 primate species that visitors can spot on their walk. This biodiverse rain forest is also known for its over 1000 unique tree species, 300 bird species, several amphibians, and reptiles species; all of which add up to the uniqueness and richness of the forest making your canopy walk experience. We also proceed to Kitabi Culture Village is a replication of kings palace which includes the kings hut, traditional huts producing milk and local beer along with traditional huts. Early in the morning after breakfast transfer to Butare town which was the first country’s Capital city. Along the way, you will pass through wonderful and magnificent hills and cultivated countryside. Have a stopover at the royal King’s Palace in Nyanza for a cultural description about the history of Rwanda. Continue and visit the cultural museum at Rwesero. Proceed and reach Butare town then check in into your Hotel and have lunch. Later visit the Rwanda National Museum. The Museum will provide you with more information about Rwanda’s history and culture. Return for dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation in Kigali.
In the morning after breakfast, you will visit Kigali Genocide Memorial has been and continues to be a place of remembrance and learning to honor victims of genocide against the Tutsi and ensure that it never happens again. And after you will visit Belgium memorial site This place is dedicated to the memory of 10 Belgian commandos part of a peacekeeping mission under the UN flag, slaughtered during the Rwandan genocide against the Tutsis in 1994. This place is also dedicated to the memory of 12 other Belgians who were murdered during that genocide to the hundreds of thousands of Rwandans slaughtered and to all the victims of genocide worldwide. In the morning after breakfast, you will relax and at 10:00 am, well shall visit Gift shops and Kimironko market where you will have a chance for buying remembrances from Rwanda and after that, we'll take you back to the Kigali international Airport. End of the tour.
